All things auto repair
Do not ignore a check engine light! A check engine light can indicate serious driveability issues with your engine, such as transmission, steering and ride control or emissions failures. A certified technician can perform a diagnostic (preferably immediately) to determine what needs to be done to correct the problem before it causes permanent damage to your car. Whatever you do, do not take your car to an auto parts store for diagnositic work. Employees can only interpret your car's stored trouble codes and are not trained to diagnose and repair the actual problem. (Your onboard computer stores messages, or trouble codes, in its memory whenever it detects a problem.
